The Walk with Purpose is an annual student-led event to benefit pediatric cancer research. Our goal is to increase attention and support for cancer awareness through many activities. This past year the committee, chairs, and co-chairs have created new and innovative events. Walk with Purpose Student Committee Though you may have previously known us as Walk the Walk, we are now known as Walk with Purpose. Yes, we may have a new name but we are still the same committed team of students that strive to connect with and make a difference in the lives of patients going through cancer treatments. The name Walk with Purpose better suits our mission and goals.

A meaningful experience for the cancer patients
We have worked tirelessly to do as much hands-on work as possible.
Teamed up with the middle school knitting club in order to distribute the knitted blankets and hats to patients going through chemotherapy.
Met with nurses and created plans to be as connected as possible with these patients.
Filled bags with candy and treats for the children in treatment. During the Halloween/fall season.
Wrote handwritten notes to the doctors, nurses, patients, and families. These personalized notes included jokes, pictures and whatever we could think of to make these important people smile.
This is by far the year we have been the most hands-on, which is a feat considering the current state of everything. We wanted to make this a meaningful experience for these patients and leave a positive lasting impression.
Thank you for your support
To date, we have raised over $1,000,000 to benefit the Heidi Hewes Chapter of the University of Miami WCA, The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center - Alex’s Place/Holtz Children’s Hospital, and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital while focusing on childhood cancer that had directly impacted our school community. We would like to thank you for supporting our Walk with Purpose in the past and would appreciate your support once again.
The pediatric patients at Holtz Children’s Hospital and Alex’s Place located at the University of Miami’s Slyvester Comprehensive Cancer Center have benefited tremendously from the generosity of the students at Miami Country Day School through cozy knitted blankets and hats, personalized cards, and items to keep our kids busy.

When I first heard of the walk, I knew it was something that I needed to be a part of. As someone whose family has been personally affected by cancer, I felt that joining The Walk would be honoring them. The Walk for Purpose mission is to raise money and awareness on cancer and the effect it can have on many people. I am so honored and blessed to be a part of such an amazing community of people who want to make a difference.
Being part of the Walk with Purpose has given me a sense of community. I know that every dollar raised and every step taken in the Walk with Purpose is making a difference in the fight against cancer. This organization has brought together people from all walks of life to support a common goal, and I am proud to be a part of such a passionate and dedicated community.”
I first discovered the Walk for Purpose Club through my friend in sixth grade. I remember going to the Walk that same year. Seeing so many people from such different communities coming together to contribute to this great cause ignited a spark in me. I wanted to be a part of this wonderful movement, to help out and apply myself in any way I possibly could. I continued attending the walk the following years and as soon as I became a freshman I took action to join the Walk for Purpose club. This club is a symbol of hope to me, hope that I can do something that will leave a lasting effect on the lives of many.
When I first heard of the walk, I was in second grade and not yet part of the MCDS community. I became very interested in what the club's purpose was and how deeply it cared about raising funds for hospital patients who are faced with cancer. Personally, this club is very near and dear to my heart as I know many people, including myself who this disease has impacted. On the first day of my Freshman year, I made it my mission to secure a spot in the club as I wanted to be someone who contributed to helping by any means I could. My favorite memory is at the Walk, where everyone in our Spartan community gathered to honor and contribute to the club's mission in support of all those affected by cancer. As a rising junior, I am very excited to hold a position in the club as, for me, the club not only means giving back to your community but also giving patients a chance to live up to their full potential while they are going through this turbulent time.
For me, Walk for Purpose allows me to express my passion for helping our community. I believe that the life I want to live is a life where I am able to help others.
I joined walk with purpose to support and advocate for cancer research. I have family members that have battled with cancer and I want to help end this struggle and find a better way to fight cancer.
