Description:
This year, we are thrilled to once again offer our travel program specifically designed and reserved for our 8th graders, the Class of 2029: G8way! This adventure takes us to the city that is often referred to as “The Paris of South America,” Buenos Aires! G8way is reserved just for 8th graders because we know how special you are! Our adventure begins with an overnight plane ride from Miami to Buenos Aires on November 20, 2024.

In this special country, we learn what it is like to literally connect two worlds, to be living history but also looking toward the future, and to have rich culture at our fingertips.

GATEway Classic: Rome/Athens

Description:
This summer, join us as we go back in time and experience a GATEway experience unlike any other. As we enter the next decade of GATEway, we invite all MCDS Spartans to take a journey to the land of the original Spartans in Greece and their gladiator counterparts in ancient Itay. This epic summer academic and cultural experience brings our GATEmates to Athens and Rome, the cradles of civilizations and the homes of some of the most exciting cultures in all of Europe. During our 4-week adventure, our GATEmates will call these two iconic capital cities home as they navigate the past, present, and future of this region. It’s 2 for the price of 1, as our GATEmates become local experts in both Greek and Italian cultures all while earning academic credit. Opa! While in Athens, our Spartans will unpack and immerse themselves in everything Greek - from the Olympics to ancient philosophers, and from Greek food to navigating the Aegean Sea as we discover a host of Greek islands. In Rome, our GATEmates will spend two weeks exploring a living museum filled with history, culture, and exciting folklore. Whether we are learning how to be expert pizzaiolos or walking the streets of the ancient gladiators, our GATEmates will truly be able to exclaim: Veni, Vidi, Vici! This is active global citizenship at its best. It’s all within your reach during GATEway 2025, and we invite you to make history as you live history. It’s a classic experience centuries in the making: GATEway Classic - Rome/Athens!
