This year, we will be celebrating our 21st annual all-school community service event, Walk the Walk, on SATURDAY, APRIL 17TH, 2021. The Walk the Walk is an annual student-led event to benefit cancer research. With the MCDS community’s safety in mind, we moved the event from October, when the event usually takes place. However, we will keep the tradition of increasing attention and support for cancer awareness through virtual activities starting with the month of October.
For those who are new members of MCDS, the entire MCDS community comes together to raise funds and awareness for our annual Walk the Walk event. The Walk started in 1999 raising $6,000 and to date, we have raised nearly $800,000 to benefit the Heidi Hewes Chapter of the University of Miami Woman’s Cancer Association and The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
This year we will also be donating to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital while focusing on childhood cancer that has directly impacted our school community. In addition, we have pledged to donate 10% of funds raised at the Walk the Walk to the Spartan Relief Fund to support families of the Country Day community during these unpredictable times. The Walk is organized by the students who volunteer their time to help educate our community on cancer awareness.
