  Siudy Flamenco is the evolution of Siudy Garrido’s 10-year-old dance company originally founded in Venezuela, and now relocated to its new home in South Florida. This Flamenco company has collaborated with major Artistic entities, renowned composers, musicians, and artists from around the world. The work of Siudy Garrido draws on a diverse set of deeply rooted cultural traditions, infusing classical Flamenco with new expressive potential.

  STILETTO BRASS

  
  

  Stiletto Brass Quintet, formed in 2010, has gained exposure as a leading ensemble with performances audiences greeted with rousing ovations at the International Trumpet Guild Conference, International Women’s Brass Conference, with Doc Severinsen and the Heartland Festival Orchestra, the St. Louis Low Brass Consortium, the Northeast Regional Tuba/Euphonium Conference, the, the National Trumpet Competition, the Great American Brass Band Festival, and concerts throughout the United States. The ensemble has also shared the stage with Italian jazz great Andrea Tofanelli and premiered a new composition written for the group entitled Scarpe!

  This Cultural Arts Series event is open to the public and completely free. This important presentation and Q&A discussion focuses on the intersection of technology and culture and its effects on our thoughts and perceptions. You will learn vital and relevant information on the personal and social consequences of our ever growing dependency on computers, robots, and apps on you and your family.

  After registering, you will receive an email confirmation with your ticket information. Please bring your confirmation with you on the evening of the performance, seating is general admission. The event should last for approximately an hour and a half.

  The John Davies Theater at the Center for the Arts is located at 10931 NE 6th Avenue, Miami, FL 33161 for mapping purposes.

  NEW ORLEANS PRESERVATION HALL ALL STARS

  New Orleans’ Preservation Hall was established in 1961 to honor one of America’s truest art forms – Traditional New Orleans Jazz. Operating as a venue, a touring band, and a non-profit organization, Preservation Hall continues its mission today as a cornerstone of New Orleans music and culture.

  WHIM ’N RHYTHM A CAPELLA

  In 1981, seven Yale women came together to form the university’s first and only senior women’s a cappella group. Today Whim ‘n Rhythm is a nonprofit organization comprised of thirteen of the best senior female singers at Yale.

  Since its foundation, the members of Whim ‘n Rhythm have recorded professional studio albums and traveled to every continent, all while promoting the role of women in higher education and music.

  JACQUELINE JOVE '04

  Praised for her “sensitivity and thoughtful musicianship,” Cuban-American violinist, Jacqueline Jove, leads a versatile life as a performer and music educator. Since her concerto debut at age 14, she has appeared as a guest soloist for the German, Italian, and Israeli embassies and continues to perform as a soloist and chamber musi­cian in concert venues across the globe.

  NICHOLAS RICHBERG ‘96

  A sought after actor, singer, director and producer, Nicholas has appeared in film, television, radio, and headlined venues across the country and on the high seas. Off stage he serves as Managing Director of Zoetic Stage, an award-winning, nationally recognized professional theater that makes its home at the Adrienne Arsht Center. At Zoetic, he has starred most recently in critically acclaimed productions of Harold Pinter’s The Caretaker and Betrayal, and Stephen Sondheim’s Passion and Assassins. Nicholas also appeared in last season’s lauded production of 1776 at Palm Beach Dramaworks, where he will star later this year as Tennessee Williams in the world premiere drama Billy and Me by Terry Teachout.

  Nicholas is a seven-time Carbonell Award nominee, three-time Silver Palm Award recipient, and recipient of the Best Actor Carbonell Award for his critically acclaimed performance in the regional premiere of Peter and the Starcatcher at the Adrienne Arsht Center. Florida Theater On Stage called his performance, “one of the best demented, daffy, comic scene-stealing performances seen in South Florida in many, many seasons.”
